Black Cube's second curatorial talk series this year, Czech curator Michal Novotný joins BC Executive Director Cortney Stell for “On Contemporary Curating: A Conversation with Michal Novotný.”  Michal Novotný is director of Centre for contemporary art FUTURA in Prague, external curator at PLATO Ostrava, and independent curator and writer. He teaches at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Recent curatorial research projects and residencies include Delfina Foundation, London (2016); Stroom Den Haag, Haag (2015); Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (2014); Contemporary Art Museum, Rijeka (2014); Villa Arson, Nice (2013). In 2018 he curated Orient, 43 artists exhibition survey into once called Eastern European art taking place in Kim?, Riga, BOZAR, Brussels and Bunkier Sztuki in Krakow. Other recent exhibitions include The Life and Death of the 1980s at Syntax, Lisbon (2017) and Deux Sens du Decoratif at CAC Passerelle in Brest (2018). Regular contributor to Flash Art, Art&Antiques, Artalk, and Fotograf magazines. AICA member since 2013. He initiated and is a jury member of VARP NY - Visegrad Artist in Residency residency program in New York in collaboration with Art in General.
