Brass and enamel pin featuring an ornamented design inspired by Derrick Velasquez’s 2016 Black Cube project New Brutal.
New Brutal was a 25-ft-tall sculptural tower within a former airplane hangar and construction site of a future marketplace. Inspired by common building materials such as Tyvek sheeting and plywood, the deconstructed tower was offset by custom ornate molding reminiscent of early French baroque architecture. Velasquez was a 2016 Black Cube Artist Fellow.
