The Sometimes Pop Up Kiosk was a Black Cube Alumni Project. Kantor’s participatory installation repurposed an outdoor kiosk on Denver’s 16th Street Mall and featured ceramic artworks, hand-painted wallpaper, and handmade souvenirs. The Alumni Program focuses on working with former Artist Fellows to continue to support their practices. Stephanie Kantor was a 2016 Black Cube Artist Fellow. This project was in partnership with the Downtown Denver Partnership.
The Sometimes Pop Up Kiosk is part shop, part ceramic installation by Black Cube Alumni, Stephanie Kantor. This installation, located in a kiosk on the 16th Street Mall at Stout Street, features ceramic artworks, hand painted wallpaper, and handmade souvenirs.
The shop will be open sporadically during unscheduled hours and, when not open, the kiosk itself stands as a large sculptural installation. This work continues Kantor’s interest in tourist destinations by exploring the gift shop, a common aspect of how we experience museums, cultural landmarks, and tourist destinations.
Special thanks to the Downtown Denver Partnership.
